Shoei Qwest Helmet Review

Shoei has constructed the Qwest helmet with a high-grade, aerodynamic shell design. It’s improved shape utilizes a air spoiler that reduces drag and lift, as well as diminishes weight pressure on the neck thereby reducing rider fatigue. An upper air intake vent has been positioned in a way to maximize air volume into the interior of the helmet and supply premium air flow. The cheek pads of the helmet have been made with 3-D center pad/multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads. Shoei has incorporated a Q.R.S.A. (Quick Release Self Adjusting) base plate that allows for tool-less shield removal and installation. This spring-loaded base pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal. The face shield has a scratch resistant coating and 99.9% protection form harmful UV A&B rays. This Shoei helmet is Snell- M2010 DOT certified. Shoei X-Twelve Helmet Review and New Graphics

The Shoei X-Twelve is a successor to Shoei’s X-Eleven Helmet. Both options are great additions to Shoei’s already sterling line of full face helmets, however, the X-Twelve has a few features that clearly put it a step above its predecessor. This helmet comes equipped with Shoei’s new Q.R.S.A. (Quick Releasing Self Adjusting) Base Plate System. The QRSA eliminates the need to adjust base plates for a proper seal. Each time the shield is lowered, the spring-loaded base plates pull the shield back to connect the window beading evenly, and supply a guaranteed wind/waterproof seal. The X-Twelve’s faceshield is a CW-1 shield that is both wider and taller than Shoei’s previous faceshields; and protects against 99% of harmful UVA & UVB rays.

The shell of the X-12 is SNELL M2010 Approved, with an AIM shell construction, and comes in five different shell sizes to give the rider the best possible fit. The rear of the shell has been integrated with an Aero Edge 2 Spoiler. This feature helps to minimize lift and wind drag at high speeds. The X-Twelve has a great ventilation system with five intake vents and ten exhaust vents making it the most aggressively ventilated helmet SHOEI has ever produced. The interior of the helmet has a 3D Max Dry lining as well as a Dual-Layer EPS liner. In the event of emergency situations, the X-Twelve has an E.Q.R.S. (Emergency Quick Release System). In an emergency, should you ever have to get your helmet off with little to no strain on your head and neck, the EQRS Mechanical tabs will disengage the cheek pads for easy removal by emergency medical personnel. A removable chin curtain can be used to reduce wind noise and turbulence  and the breath guard can be inserted into the upper edge of the chin bar to help reduce fogging by directing exhausted breath down and out of the base of the helmet. The X-12 comes with a five year warranty, and a few accessories including: a maintenance kit, nylon drawstring helmet bag, and an optional air mask.

Shoei has just released new helmet graphics for several of their helmet models including the X-12! Please note that several of these new graphics will not be available until January 2013.

Shoei Neotec New Graphics and Helmet Review

Shoei has just released two new graphic options for their popular helmet model, the Shoei Neotec. Now available in the solid Shoei Neotec Matte Deep Grey Helmet graphic and the Shoei Neotec Borealis Helmet graphic, the Neotec is also still available in solid colors.

Boasting improved shell aerodynamics, a wider and taller field of vision, a reduction in wind noise, an internal sun shield, and a fully removable, washable and replaceable liner system, the Neotec is the next level of modular helmet design for today’s hybrid motorcyclists.

For years Shoei refused to include a drop down sun visor on their helmets, as the internal visor would need a place to reside once flipped up (reducing energy absorbing material in the forehead area). Shoei Neotec helmets address this issue by building a recess into the shell itself, without compromising on liner thickness. Shoei Neotec Helmets use Shoei’s AIM shell, which stands for Advanced Integrated Matrix. The Shoei Neotec Helmet boasts a lot of upgraded features when compared with it’s predecessor, the ever popular Shoei Multitec.

The chinbar pivot has been improved, placing the chinbar lower when in the upright position. The Neotec Modular Helmet also utilizes what Shoei is calling their Vortex Generator Lip. This is a small spoiler built into the trailing edge of the chin bar. The spoiler directs air up and away from the gap between the shell and the chinbar, as well as directing air around the slider for the internal visor.
