Before the Infineon event, Holden and his team set up the Without Ego Media fund for fans to donate toward Holden’s racing effort. They even put out a tip jar during the fan walk at Infineon. And Holden fans have been stepping up big.
But after Holden suffered a broken pinkie and a wrecked motorcycle while racing at Infineon, the Jake Holden Racing team is even further in debt.
Holden put his helmet up on eBay yesterday in order to pick up some extra funds.
“Up for auction is AMA Daytona Sportbike rider Jake Holden’s, #59 of Jake Holden Racing formerly Roberson Motorsports, Shoei X Twelve helmet from this past weekends AMA Round at Infenion Raceway in Sonoma, CA. This is the helmet Jake was wearing when he crashed in race #2. The proceeds from this sale will go towards Jake’s 2011 racing campaign in the Daytona Sportbike class of the AMA Championship. The helmet will come autographed by Jake and sent after the next round at Miller Motorsports Park.
“If you would like to donate towards helping Jake continue this season please go to http://www.withoutegomedia.com/#/support-jake and click DONATE.
“Thank you for checking out the auction and helping Jake achieve his dream.”
The current bit for the helmet is $405, but there are still 9 days left to bid.
