The BMW Motorrad Italia SBK Team has chosen Barry Veneman to fill in as a replacement for an injured James Toseland who will miss the upcoming World Superbike round at Assen on April 17th.
Veneman, a 34-year–old Dutchman, will feel right at home when he hops on the BMW S 1000RR at Assen next weekend. Veneman will be racing at his home circuit, which is also one of his favorite tracks. He’ll also be riding the BMW S 1000RR, which he is already familiar with.
Veneman will race the 1000RR in the IDM German Superbike Championship series this year, and has been the BMW Motorrad team’s go-to-go for testing sessions with the 1000RR.
Toseland injured his wrist at Aragon during a testing session, and had to have surgery on his injury. Toseland was given an estimated 6 week recovery time, and should be ready to race at Monza on May 8th.
