Honda’s RC212V is currently the fastest bike in the MotoGP. With the help of Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner, the RC212V has had a race victory and a second place finish so far this season. But with new limitation rules starting in the MotoGP next year, Honda is reworking their racing bike to make sure that they are still competitive in 2012.
Honda had a private test around the Suzuka circuit on April 14th and 15th. When Ducati tested their new bike earlier this year, Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden were on hand to give their input. Honda opted to use HRC Test riders Kousuke Akiyoshi and Tady Okada, instead of calling in Pedrosa, Stoner, and Andrea Dovizioso to the track.
The 2012 MotoGP season will see a new 1000cc maximum engine capacity, and many teams are already working on their new bikes. Ducati has already had a testing session with the GP12, and Jorge Lorenzo said that he’ll be testing the new Yamaha M1 in July.
Honda hasn’t released any details about their testing session, or the new Honda prototype, and it isn’t clear when Pedrosa, Stoner, or Dovizioso will get their shot with the new bike.
