TT3D Scores Big at the Box Office

closer-to-the-edgeThe new Isle of Man TT Documentary, TT3D: Closer to the Edge, had a huge opening weekend. The new TT documentary is the highest grossing documentary in the UK since Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11.

The new TT film, which brought in about £313,000 ($520,000) at the box office this weekend, putting it in the box office top 10. The movie opened in about 130 theaters, and due to the success it had last weekend, it will not be placed in 60 more theaters.

The film, which was produced and distributed by CinemaNX, follows riders like Guy Martin throughout the rises and pitfalls of training for the 2010 Isle of Man TT.

“This is a really good result that we’re all proud of at NX. A smart distribution campaign carefully targeting both the core audience and a wider documentary-loving demographic is working,” said CinemaNX chairman Steve Christian to IsleofMan.com.

“From our online Facebook and iPad/iPhone game, which had over 3 million interactions and boosted early awareness, to careful guerrilla marketing to pretty much anyone who has ever had anything to do with a motorbike, we’ve managed to get the attention of cinema-goers and get them into cinemas on the hottest weekend of the year so far.”

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a little taste of TT3D: Closer to the Edge.
