The qualifying session for both the MotoGP and the Moto2 has been canceled at Estoril. The grid will be decided based on Friday’s practice times, which puts Jorge Lorenzo on the pole position for the MotoGp, and Gabor Talmacsi upfront for Moto2.
Excessive water on the track, high winds, and non-stop rain forced the MotoGP to cancel the qualifying session this afternoon in Portugal. Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi will join Lorenzo on the front row based on their practice times from Friday.
Casey Stoner will lead the second row, followed by Ben Spies and Marco Melandri.
In the Moto2, Gabor Talmacsi earned his first pole position of the season. He will be joined on the front row by Julian Simon, season leader Toni Elias, and newcomer to the Moto2, Kenan Sofuoglu. It’s Sofuoglu’s first race in the Moto2 division, and he’s already gotten off to a great start.
Andrea Iannone, who is fighting for second place with Simon, will lead the second row.
