Kiyo Claims Second in a Row at Oulton Park

bsb_hillAt the start of the weekend, Ryuichi Kiyonari was in third place behind Tommy Hill and Josh Brookes. But now, with just one race left in the British Superbike season, it looks like Kiyonari has a firm hold on the BSB title.

Kiyonari took the victory during the first race at Oulton Park, pulling within a few points of Tommy Hill. King Kiyo proved victorious again in race two. But more importantly, Hill crashed out of the race, giving Kiyo the full 25 points and a big lead for the final race of the BSB season.

Hill crashed twice during the second race at Oulton Park. The second time he went down brought out the red flags, and caused serious damage to his bike. The accident left Hill unable to continue in Race 2, and his team is now working on his bike to get Hill ready for the final race of the season.

Even though Kiyo has gained a nice lead over Hill, the championship isn’t over yet. Kiyonari holds a 15 point advantage over Hill, and a 19 point advantage over Brookes. The winds have definitely shifted into Kiyonari’s favor, but anything can happen in the final title-deciding race.

“I am happy to win the race but I know that there is still another one to go before we can celebrate as it could still all change. I am feeling pretty nervous now and I hope that we can do the same as we did in this race to try and win the title.”

Stuart Easton took second place behind Kiyonari today, beating out title fighter Josh Brookes. Michael Rutter finished fourth, and Alasair Seeley finally managed to break into the top 5. Rutter and Seeley can no longer win the BSB title. Laverty also lost his shot at the title with an 8th place finish today, but Laverty still has podium hopes as he is in reach of both Hill and Brookes.
