Hayes Takes the Lead in AMA Superbike

ama_hayes_hayden Josh Hayes took his fifth AMA Superbike win of the 2010 season at the Virginia International Raceway, and reclaimed the title lead from Tommy Hayden. Hayes is now 11 points ahead in the overall standings.

Hayes cruised to victory today, finishing 7 seconds ahead of Ben Bostrom who finished second for the second day in a row. Bostrom closes the gap on Jake Zemke, who currently sits in third place in the overall standings.

Hayden, who claimed the first victory at VIR this weekend, tied the series going into today’s race. But now, the two rivals leave VIR the same way they went in, with 11 points between them.

Brent McCormick recorded his best results of the 2010 season with a fourth place finish ahead of Taylor Knapp.

There are only two events left in the AMA Superbike, and the race to the top continues to get tighter.
